Naija Is Winning!

Kano schoolgirls win Nigeria's Company of the Year with a farming app, and they're off to Cape Town! 🌱🇳🇬

Young farmers' helpers from Kano! A team of four girls from Sunflower School, Kano State, running a student company called Agrolens Technologies, has won Junior Achievement Nigeria's 2026 National Company of the Year Competition. Their app, AgroLens AI, is free and helps farmers spot crop diseases and pests, get treatment tips, check live market prices, connect with buyers and find links to farm financing, all in one place. It works in English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Pidgin, with voice features for farmers who would rather speak than type. The team takes home a cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa, to represent Nigeria at the African Company of the Year competition. Their teacher, Isaac Chika Egbe, was also named Best Facilitator. Kano to Cape Town, go girls! 🚀🇳🇬

. Winners announced in Abuja on Wednesday 21 October 2026; Vanguard reported it on 22 October and BusinessDay on Sunday 25 October 2026.
